Campus Communicator Web launch
Fair Commies, we are at last online.
The Campus Communicator launched its Web site earlier this evening, and it is accessible worldwide at www.freecraven.com. This site was, much like this Weblog, begun off-campus and operates independently of Craven Community College. It will host all content from the print edition of the Campus Communicator, archived .PDFs of past issues and links to the freecraven.com e-mail addresses that have been assigned to all Communicator staffers.
Check your Campus Cruiser e-mail accounts -- or just ask me -- for instructions on activating your new freecraven.com e-mail address. Mine is already up and running -- you can e-mail me at corey.friedman@freecraven.com or at editor@freecraven.com.
Please begin submitting stories and letters to the editor to news@freecraven.com, which will replace the college-sponsored e-mail account we hope to faze out in the next several months.
Take a look at this Web site and see what you think.
Excelsior,
Corey

It's still a little rough, but St. Mitzi has done a wonderful job.
I'm a little slack...I have to send her the content from the 2 opinion pages.

why do you have so many dead links on your front page? wouldn't it be better to not have links than have users go to a dead page? or at least have the link go to a site map or search page. users generally get turned off by dead links.
also, why no color photos? they would liven up an otherwise drap layout.
finally, as the first comment suggests, you are not being very timely with updates. the whole idea of having a newspaper online is to get information out faster than via print. rolling out an incomplete site could be detrimental.

There is only so much three extrememly people can do.
As for the color photos, we just posted the ones that were used in the paper. The next batch should be color...as soon as I send them to the web mistress.
Thanks for the comment about our "drap" layout.
As for the links...it's a work in progress. Like anything, it will improve with time.

Oh my, nailed me on a typo.
My point is, you don't make links to something that's not there. Have the text, sure, but don't make the link live.
BTW: what are "extrememly people"? And frankly, your site isn't that big. Knock out a template and do your business.
As for the B&W pics, there again you went live with a website that wasn't ready for prime time. Why not just wait until you had a finished product? It would make you look much better. Doing it a little bit here and a little bit there makes you look half-assed.

I meant "extremely busy"...things like that happen when your brain moves faster than your fingers.
